# Service activation

> Activate Gcore advanced protection by choosing a plan, submitting a network, getting NOC approval, and applying settings.

Advanced protection setup follows a self-service flow in the [Gcore Customer Portal](https://portal.gcore.com), from plan activation through network configuration. The process consists of four steps:

1. [Plan activation](/ddos-protection/onboarding-service/plan-activation) - select a protection tier and bandwidth
2. [Network submission](/ddos-protection/onboarding-service/network-submission) - submit the network to protect
3. [Review and approval](/ddos-protection/onboarding-service/review-and-approval) - network operations center (NOC) review of the submission
4. [Network configuration](/ddos-protection/onboarding-service/network-configuration) - apply the protection settings
