# DDoS protection

> Gcore DDoS Protection guards servers and networks from distributed denial-of-service attacks, with free basic and paid advanced mitigation.

Gcore DDoS Protection safeguards servers and networks against distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks. Basic protection is free and on by default, while Advanced protection is a paid add-on that routes traffic through a threat mitigation system, filters attack traffic, and forwards legitimate traffic to the protected infrastructure.
